About The Position

The Fabrication Pipe Checker is responsible for verifying the accuracy and quality of pipe spool fabrication prior to release to QA/QC and shipment. This role ensures that all fabricated spools comply with shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements, minimizing rework and ensuring downstream quality.

Requirements

• 2 years of pipe fabrication experience
• Ability to read shop drawings
• Knowledge of welding and fit-up practices
• Must be able to adhere to the following: Shop/yard environment, Exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment, Standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, Use of PPE and measuring tools
• Show strong attention to detail
• Dimensional measurement skills
• Problem-solving and discrepancy identification
• Communication with shop and QA/QC teams
• Time management and prioritization
• A commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with ASME B31.1 / B31.3 preferred

Responsibilities

• Review shop drawings, BOMs, and weld maps prior to inspection
• Verify spool dimensions, orientation, and configuration against drawings
• Check fit-up accuracy including alignment, bevels, gaps, and orientation
• Measure and verify critical dimensions within tolerance
• Confirm materials, heat numbers, and traceability
• Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections and documentation
• Support resolution of rework items
• Work with production to maintain workflow and schedule
• Complete inspection checklists and track deficiencies
• Adhere to all safety policies and report unsafe conditions
