About The Position

The Fabrication Material Coordinator at Prism Maritime’s Fabrication Facility is responsible for overseeing advanced material control, inventory management, receiving operations, and traceability functions that support fabrication workflows. This role ensures accurate material flow from material release through delivery to production, in full compliance with FAR/DFARS traceability, export control, NAVSEA requirements, and internal quality standards. The coordinator serves as a senior leader within the material control organization, supporting planning, warehousing, kitting, and cross functional coordination with fabrication teams. Also, may perform other assignments as qualified to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives and goals.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED
  • 5+ years in material control, warehouse operations, inventory management, or manufacturing/fabrication support; defense, maritime, or heavy industrial experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience guiding teams or performing senior level material control duties.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS traceability, export/ITAR control, and quality requirements related to material handling.
  • Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems; Costpoint preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds and work on the shop floor with required PPE.
  • Variables of physical activity, e. stooping, climbing, walking, etc.
  • In performing these duties within a fabrication shop, you may be required to work in hot as well as cold environments as well as around extremely loud noises and other physical hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee MRP inputs, material requirements review and forecasting to ensure timely support of fabrication activities.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, cycle counts, physical inventory events, and variance analysis for hardware, electrical/electronic components, mechanical assemblies, chemicals, and other material types.
  • Ensure strict adherence to lot/serial traceability and documentation requirements aligned with NAVSEA, customer contract requirements, and export control.
  • Supervise kitting, work center material issuance, returns, and stock rotation (FIFO, Kanban).
  • Maintain organized, audit ready warehouse and storage environments.
  • Oversee receiving operations and verify shipments against documentation and traceability requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality for inspections and acceptance/rejection activities.
  • Manage segregation, documentation, and resolution of nonconforming material.
  • Support corrective actions with internal stakeholders for material related defects.
  • Document receiving and quality issues for supplier performance feedback.
  • Provide traceability and defect data to internal purchasing as needed.
  • Assist in training, guiding, and coordinating material control personnel during daily operations.
  • Work closely with production planners, fabrication supervisors, logistics, quality, and program teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
  • Support facility safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accuracy of ERP/WMS transactions including receipts, inventory movements, kitting, returns, and lot/serial updates.
  • Generate KPI reports such as inventory accuracy, material movement cycle times, stockouts, kitting performance, and traceability compliance.
  • Participate in and lead process improvement efforts to strengthen material flow and audit readiness.
