The Fabrication Machine Operator 1 is responsible for setting up and operating metal fabrication machinery, such as CNC plasma/oxy fuel cutting, CNC saws, and CNC presses to cut and form metal plates/sheets into parts. This role involves referencing and interpreting technical blueprints to maintain tolerances specified by engineering and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operations in the Flame, Saw, & Press Brake work centers. The position requires processing and preparing parts for subsequent operations by fabricating from engineering drawings and parameters, prioritizing production runs to ensure timely completion of work orders while maximizing machine run time. The operator will monitor and inspect all produced parts for quality and quantity according to work order specifications, clean, deburr, and prepare parts for the next operation, and use a forklift/crane and/or manual pushing to load material onto carts and move it to the proper work area. Additionally, the role includes inspecting and maintaining fabrication equipment in compliance with safety requirements, keeping the work area neat and clean, and completing preventative maintenance as needed. Other duties may include setting up machines to start production cycles (calibration, cleaning, adjusting settings), inspecting parts with precision measuring tools, providing input on routings and drawings for accuracy and potential problem identification, assisting with process improvements to reduce waste, and performing other assigned work-related duties.
