About The Position

The Fabrication Helper assists with preparation, fabrication, installation, and fitting of pipe to specifications. The role also supports installation of valves, hangers, supports, and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications; testing pipe and piping systems for quality; and hoisting loads with rigging equipment. Candidates may also assist welders with grinding. The position requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions, extended periods of work of up to 12 hours a day, and use of required personal protective equipment.

• Vision sufficient to focus, see near and far, distinguish colors, perceive depth, and use peripheral vision.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying elements and for periods up to 12 hours a day.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, ear plugs or muffs, masks or respirators, safety vest, gloves, and steel-toe boots.

Responsibilities

• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Assist with preparation, fabrication, installation, and fitting of pipe to specifications.
• Assist with installing valves, hangers, supports, and flanges inside piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications.
• Assist with testing to ensure the quality of pipe and piping systems.
• Assist with hoisting loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
• May assist welders with grinding.
