About The Position

The Fabrication Engineer is responsible for designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and optimizing production efficiency through nesting operations on CNC machinery. This role plays a critical part in supporting AID's manufacturing processes by ensuring accurate fabrication data, maximizing material usage, and streamlining workflow from design to production.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for designing mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Experience with nesting operations for CNC machinery.
  • Ability to generate detailed part and assembly drawings.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and material usage optimization.
  • Collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to maintain organized documentation.
  • Problem-solving skills for production troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and codes.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks in accordance with project specifications and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Support Engineering team as needed for proposals and submittals.
  • Generate detailed part and assembly drawings for internal fabrication and external vendors as needed.
  • Prepare and manage nesting files for CNC cutting equipment to ensure efficient material usage and production throughput.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly.
  • Maintain an organized library of fabrication drawings, models, and nesting programs.
  • Identify and implement improvements in design practices, material utilization, and CNC programming processes.
  • Support production troubleshooting related to fabrication design or nesting outputs.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and internal best practices.
  • Must submit to pre-employment background, drug, and alcohol screening.
