About The Position

The Fabrication Associate role involves various tasks related to the fabrication process, including cutting materials, assembly, packaging, and special projects. The associate will report to the Fabrication Supervisor, who will assign specific processes and outline related duties. This role requires operating fabrication machinery, using labeling software, measuring and cutting materials according to work orders, identifying materials and finishes, deburring parts, performing daily maintenance and setup tasks, and preparing finished materials for shipment. The position also involves moving pallets, communicating with team members, following instructions, and working safely. Additional duties include assembling parts with fasteners, attaching components, and potentially receiving/shipping transfers and using RF scanners for inventory management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Ability to use NEFCO’s ERP software system
  • Must have a positive, hard-working attitude
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and little supervision
  • Ability to multitask
  • Maintain a clean work area/environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to stands on concrete floor for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in various climate conditions such as cold, heat, humidity for a long period of time
  • Ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, crawl and twist for lifting
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to review and interpret computer images and written documents
  • Analytical ability including basic math skills

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, or Outlook a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operates fabrication shop machinery and equipment.
  • Uses counting scales and label making software for labeling of finished parts.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to cut / build per requirements of the workorder.
  • Identification of materials on the workorder (ability to identify material and finishes).
  • Removes burrs and sharp edges from workpiece.
  • Performs daily checklist tasks cleaning, organizing, set up for new jobs, and maintenance on equipment when needed.
  • Wrapping, banding, or boxing of finished material to put on to pallets.
  • Moving pallets with forklifts or pallet jacks.
  • Communicating with other team members to accomplish daily goals.
  • Ability to follow through with instructions given by the Fabrication Supervisor/Manager.
  • Work safety as instructed by the Fabrication supervisor.
  • Assembling small to large parts with nuts, bolts and washers.
  • Attach assembled parts together using impact tools or wrenches.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to work with fellow employees and communicate effectively as a team.
  • Ability to receive and ship transfers using ECLIPSE.
  • Ability to use RF scanner to pick and put away product, and Cycle Count inventory.
