About The Position

This role involves designing, welding, and fabricating new and existing equipment, parts, and tools. The position requires maintaining all welding and fabrication equipment and supplies, building and designing equipment based on orders, and utilizing various fabrication tools. The Fabricator must also adhere to testing requirements, stay updated on necessary training, and utilize the Simmons Hot Works program. Teamwork, communication, and adherence to Simmons Operating Systems principles are crucial. The role also includes performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives, and it is understood that this description is a guide and not a limitation of the role's potential.

Requirements

• Proficiency in various types of welding such as MIG, TIG and Stick.
• Knowledge and use of oxy acetylene torch and plasma cutter.
• Computer skills.
• Strong math skills.
• Communication skills.
• Decision quality - must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to seek out and solve problems.
• Must work on feet the entire shift with lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending and working in the extreme heat or cold.
• Able to lift, push or pull up to 100 pounds.
• Hearing protection, eye protection, leather gloves.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Maintains all welding and fabrication equipment and supplies.
• Builds, creates, and designs equipment throughout the entire facility based on orders received.
• Uses welding and other fabrication equipment to fabricate equipment as needed.
• Maintains any testing requirements as set forth by your supervisor or company; keeps up to date any training that will be needed for this position.
• Possesses knowledge of and utilizes Simmons Hot Works program as needed.
• Participates as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness and coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices.
• Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. Quality, Security, Office Environment, Company Policies) and the position’s role in supporting these systems.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
