About The Position

Supervise all operations and personnel in the Manufacturing Shop. Lead team members to continually improve quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires the ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of the organization and react favorably in all situations. It is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations, requiring public contact and excellent interpersonal skills. The supervisor must be able to handle stressful situations professionally, favorably resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. A long attention span is needed to listen to people, perceive real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion. The role involves handling novel and diverse work problems daily, requiring emotional stability and personal maturity. The work environment is a shop setting, and the role may require working odd hours/schedules, overtime, and lifting up to 49 pounds. It requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity for operating various equipment, including forklifts and cranes. Normal range of hearing and vision is necessary for operating machinery and recording reports. Steel toe shoes/boots are required. The position also demands a high standard of safety commitment and compliance with all safety laws and employer policies.

Requirements

  • Must meet/exceed all Welder III requirements.
  • Familiar with all processes of welding (S.M.A.W., F.C.A.W., G.M.A.W., G.T.A.W., S.A.W.)
  • Advanced knowledge of blueprints.
  • Ability to effectively train new employees of Petersen’s standards.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least 5 years of Supervisory experience.

  • Maintain housekeeping of area responsible
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and support of new employees
  • Document employee disciplinary action when necessary
  • Document and handle employee terminations when necessary
  • Enforce all personnel policies
  • Monitor quality
  • Solve job related problems
  • Investigate and fill out accident reports
  • Provide safety equipment
  • Maintain safe environment
  • Responsible for monitoring employee times & turn into payroll
  • Responsible for safety of employees
  • Expedite parts throughout the plant as necessary to meet production goals.
  • Assign jobs to team members and give clear instructions.
  • Encourage and effectively motivate team members to be accountable for PETERSEN’s commitment to quality, time, and budget.
  • Instill a level of teamwork among crew.
