About The Position

This role is responsible for providing detailed internal quote information for fabrication, including material yielding, labor expectations, and current lead times and capacities. The specialist will also be responsible for CAD/CAM design and programming of CNC equipment, as well as providing direction on manual machining and fabrication processes. This includes developing CAD Models within CAM programs, determining appropriate machining processes, and selecting cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates. The role also involves reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and assembly instructions, conducting dimensional and visual part inspections, and adhering to best operating practices to ensure operational performance goals are met. Active participation in continuous improvement activities and submitting ideas for process improvement are also key aspects of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with local and remote sales teams to review and provide detailed internal quote information for fabrication, including material yielding, labor expectations, and current lead times and capacities.
  • Measures and seeks excellence in the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of fabricated parts quotes.
  • Responsible for CAD/CAM design and programming of CNC equipment as well as providing direction on manual machining and fabrication processes.
  • Develop CAD Models within CAM program through importing/conversion of existing CAD Models OR through analyzing drawings, sketches, and design data of parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, finishes (i.e. edge quality), etc.
  • Determine and program CAM software for the appropriate machining process, selection of cutting tools, machine speeds and feed rates.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and parts lists.
  • Studies and interprets assembly instructions, and verifies specifications.
  • Conducts dimensional and visual part inspections to prints and specifications using standard quality assurance inspection equipment.
  • Helps to develop inspection techniques.
  • Adhere to best operating practices to ensure operational performance goals are met; including Safety, Customer Service – Internal/External, Quality Control, Inventory Accuracy, and Manufacturing Efficiency.
  • Participates actively in Continuous Improvement activities and submits ideas to help drive improvement.
  • Engages with team on ideas to improve the process and provide a better buying experience to our customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
