About The Position

This role involves modifying, altering, and repairing clothing, with a specific focus on the precise placement and handling of military ornamentation on uniforms. The position may also include receiving articles for laundering or dry cleaning services.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen or have lived in the U.S. for three years.
One year of experience in basic modifications, alterations, and repair of clothing.
One year of experience using a sewing machine to perform alterations and repairs on garments, including tasks like pinning, basting, trimming, adjusting sleeve length, waistbands, zippers, collars, pockets, pant length, tapering skirts, and sewing on ratings and stripes.

Nice To Haves

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Responsibilities

Perform alterations and repairs on uniform and civilian garments, including pinning, basting, trimming, lengthening/shortening sleeves, adjusting waistbands, replacing zippers, modifying collars, replacing pockets, adjusting pant length, tapering skirts, and sewing on ratings and stripes.
Take customer body measurements to ensure proper garment fit.
Receive special orders for affixing medals, ribbons, badges, devices, and ratings onto uniforms.
Measure, mark, trim, baste, and press items for correct placement of insignia.
Mount medals and sew items onto uniforms as required.
Operate a sewing machine and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Receive garments and articles for laundering and dry cleaning from authorized patrons.
Complete Laundry Dry Cleaning tickets with patron information, date, and pricing.
Stack items into laundry bags for pickup.
Receive tickets from patrons for pickup of cleaned articles, verifying ticket numbers.
Turn over cleaned articles to patrons and collect payments.
Operate a cash register and manage a personal cash fund.
Prepare Daily Salespersons Cash Reports.
Requisition and maintain adequate stock levels.
Assist in inventory taking.
Serve and assist customers with tact, good manners, and courtesy, responding promptly and friendly to inquiries.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
