About The Position

Perform detailed and accurate inspection of components from new or revised molds and document the results. Assist in other quality departments as needed.

Requirements

  • A completed 2-year vocational inspection program or equivalent on the job experience
  • Course work in inspection, gauging and blueprint reading
  • Exposure to injection molding in any capacity
  • Working knowledge of mechanical inspection equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of MCOSMOS and MSURF software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop or select appropriate methods to measure customer specified features and dimensions.
  • Document the methods selected.
  • Accurately perform visual and dimensional measurement studies of assigned parts and document the measurement methods used and the results obtained on the correct customer and/or SPG, MN forms.
  • Perform statistical studies as assigned and report the results.
  • Develop, implement and maintain CMM measurement programs.
  • Actively promote and drive a culture of safety.
  • Select or develop and document appropriate measurement methods to be used for assigned measurement studies.
  • Accurately perform and report layout inspection results for new, revised parts and assemblies.
  • Perform statistical studies on components and gauging.
  • Review inspection results with personnel from quality, project and manufacturing engineering.
  • Setup appropriate retention samples in the sample retention system.
  • Assist in performing calibrations.
  • Perform receiving, in-process, final and 2nd operations inspections as assigned.
  • Develop and implement CMM Programs.
  • Create operator instructions describing the use of the CMM.
  • Provide necessary CMM training.
  • Troubleshoot CMM measurement issues including program or mechanical problems.
  • Support the interpretation of CMM results. This may include working with other departments and customers.
  • Support the design and procurement of customer gauges.
  • Perform internal calibration of fixtures.
  • Work with Outside Calibration Vendor in scheduling, repairing and adding new equipment to Master group list.
  • Ensure inspection gages are maintained and perform minor maintenance.
