About The Position

The purpose of this position is to manage case managers, all case management activities including case management and programs geared to provide shelter to homeless individuals and families in need. The manager is also responsible for 24/7 monitoring services and laundry services for all clients of the Center of Hope.

Requirements

  • AA Degree and or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be familiar with the social services of The Salvation Army and possess at least 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer applications -Microsoft (Excel, Word) and other word processing and databases.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Bi-lingual (English-Spanish preferred, other languages a plus).
  • Familiarity with wide variety of cultural customs in Sacramento community
  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in supervising all Caseworkers, monitor and laundry staff at the Emergency Shelter.
  • Assists with assigning and supervising daily work tasks to caseworkers, monitors and laundry staff.
  • Manages the provision of services to shelter clients.
  • Manages logs, reports, and client files of Shelter clients.
  • Manages quality and quantity of client case management appointments.
  • Responsible for reviewing client’s information, inputting and creating HMIS reports for Prop-47 contract clients and other shelter contracts.
  • Develops and maintains a community referral list for the Shelter including community resources, organizations, agencies and the continuum of care as needed.
  • Interviews clients with problems such as personal and family adjustments, finances, employment, food, clothing, housing, and physical and mental impairments to determine nature and degree of problem.
  • Secures information such as medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to client's situation, and evaluates these and client's capacities.
  • Helps client to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing understanding of self, personal problems, and client's part in creating them.
  • Refers clients to community resources and other organizations.
  • Enter intake, case management notes and other services provided into Briges & Others software.
