About The Position

We are seeking a Security Specialist – Technical Writer to join the F-35 program in Arlington, Virginia. The F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) leads life-cycle management of the F-35 Lightning II, the fifth-generation joint strike fighter serving the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Cooperative Program Partners (CPP), and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers across multiple classification levels. Support includes Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Special Access Programs (SAP), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). The F-35 JPO Security Directorate provides full-spectrum, multi-disciplined security support to protect F-35 technology and information across the enterprise and throughout the acquisition and sustainment lifecycle, spanning Continental United States (CONUS) and overseas operations globally. The role of the Security Specialist – Technical Writer (Senior) is to provide SME-level guidance and senior-level interface for security documentation development and maintenance for the F-35 JPO Security Directorate, serving as the authoritative writer for security-related publications across all assigned security disciplines.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Security Management, or a related discipline, OR Bachelor's Degree plus four (4) years of additional work experience in technical writing or security documentation
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience producing technical security documentation for DoD programs, including policy development, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and security classification guidance
  • Demonstrated experience developing security documentation across multiple disciplines, including General Security (GENSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Personnel Security (PERSEC), and Physical Security (PHYSEC)
  • Proficiency in DoD documentation standards and classified document control procedures
  • Secret/SAR clearance required

Responsibilities

  • Draft, create, maintain, and update security-related documentation and publications across all F-35 JPO security disciplines, including Security Operations Manuals (SOMs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Security Classification Guides (SCGs), Access Management Control Plans (AMCPs), Project Security Instructions (PSIs), Site and Ship Activation Management Plans (SSAMPs), Continuity of Operations Plans (COOPs), Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs), Program Protection Plans, and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
  • Ensure all documentation meets Government-specified quality standards, achieving 100% accuracy and zero structural rework before government acceptance
  • Provide SME-level guidance on documentation standards per the F-35 JPO Security Directorate Manual 01-01, Documentation Standards
  • Coordinate document review cycles, technical editing, and final approval packages with appropriate Government and contractor personnel
  • Maintain repositories of security documentation; ensure records are current, correctly marked, and accessible in accordance with applicable security protocols
