About The Position

This position is for a first line L-5 manager of the F-35 Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) System Design team, part of Test & Evaluation, located in Fort Worth, TX. The team is responsible for orchestrating the FTI System Design to meet data collection requirements for F-35 flight testing. This manager position will lead a team of system design engineers and have OBS responsibilities over the entirety of F-35 FTI projects. Additionally, this role is expected to maintain 50% direct tasking to include, but not limited to, project lead duties, engineering reviews, system design assignments, and FTI System Development oversight from requirements definition to final delivery. Leadership responsibilities will include: review and maintenance of earned value metrics; development and maintenance of project-specific performance metrics; bid and proposal development and review; individual contributor performance assessments, recognition, and disciplinary actions; recruitment, selection, and training; discipline-specific competency development; process development/improvement. This role also requires frequent coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including the flight test engineer community, flight instrumentation detail designers, engineering planners, flight test instrumentation fabrication personnel, program management, and the JPO customer. Minimal travel may be required. Must be a US Citizen due to program clearance needed and requires special access.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment
  • Experience working with Flight Test Instrumentation
  • Experience as a team lead
  • Experience working with suppliers/customers
  • Must be a US Citizen due to program clearance needed and requires special access

Nice To Haves

  • F-35 Line of Business familiarity
  • Familiarity with F-35 design tools and processes (CATIA v5 or similar, PDM, VAS, etc)
  • Excellent communication/organizational skills
