About The Position

Glad is seeking an Extrusion Senior Technician to support the development of next-generation trash and waste management solutions. This role is ideal for a creative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about operating, maintaining, trouble shooting and optimizing extrusion equipment. This role requires hands‑on mechanical experience, strong tool proficiency, and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues on pilot plant and industrial-scale machinery. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, committed to safety and thrives in a collaborative R&D environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in extrusion, prefer blown films. Or 4+ years of experience in extrusion plus an associates or bachelor’s associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • Industrial or large equipment experience is a must.
  • On-site role (typically 5 days per week on-site)
  • Located in Willowbrook, IL
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Active Listening skills.
  • Safety focus. Demonstrated ability to identify, communicate, and address concerns.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and occasionally carry 20 lbs. bucket upstairs.
  • Ability to think creatively and adaptively in fast-changing environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to use Microsoft programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer blown films experience.

Responsibilities

  • Start and operate extrusion equipment: preheat extruder, load hoppers, pull bubble, operate winder.
  • Operate, monitor, adjust and troubleshoot equipment along the production line.
  • Unload materials, load hoppers, transfer rolls.
  • Order, store and retrieve resins, rolls and supplies.
  • Inspect and test materials and films, document process settings.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
  • Conduct equipment repairs as needed.
  • Work with scientists to review run plans and provide feedback.
