About The Position

The Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating extrusion equipment for a plastic pipe extrusion process. The role involves hands-on knowledge of setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining the process, particularly for PEX pipe extrusion lines. The operator monitors manufacturing, performs quality testing and documentation, and carries out production tasks such as machine operation, testing, and product packing. The position requires availability to work any shift, weekends, and overtime if required.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of plastic extrusion processes, including setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining an extrusion process.
A minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred.
Availability to work any shift, weekends, and overtime if required.
Practical knowledge of production procedures.
Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Willingness and ability to become forklift certified.
Ability to walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform job duties safely.

Nice To Haves

Experience with PEX pipe or polyethylene pipe.
Ability to use computers and word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
Experience with Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

Monitor all phases of manufacturing for one or more PEX pipe extrusion lines.
Ensure efficient use of staff, equipment, and materials throughout the process.
Perform quality testing and maintain quality documentation.
Train personnel in the department.
Perform manufacturing functions, including machine operation, testing, and packing products.
Inspect materials and supplies to ensure compliance with customer order specifications.
Operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Follow safety rules and procedures, including wearing personal safety equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
