About The Position

Accredo Packaging, Inc. is seeking a motivated Extrusion Operator Trainee to join their manufacturing team in Sugar Land, Texas. This role involves hands-on technical training to support and operate 8 state-of-the-art Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) blown film extrusion lines producing flexible plastic packaging film. The trainee will learn all aspects of the extrusion process, including resin blend staging, line setups, troubleshooting, quality inspection, and routine equipment maintenance, working alongside experienced operators.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Must pass a New Hire Base Assessment Test evaluating basic arithmetic and mechanical aptitude.
Demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools and precision measuring devices (tape measure, scale, etc.).
Basic computer literacy with the ability to learn web-based operating software and manufacturing ERP systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (2/3/2 schedule) in a 24/7/365 production facility, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout a 12-hour shift.
Comfort working in an active industrial manufacturing plant around high-speed machinery.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

Prior experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Learn to set up, operate, and assist in troubleshooting 8 high-speed W&H blown film extrusion machines.
Perform line setups, die adjustments, and product changeovers according to job specifications.
Order, stage, and handle raw resins and packaging materials; develop a working knowledge of different resin types and blend formulations.
Conduct continuous visual and dimensional quality checks on extruded film to ensure customer specifications are met.
Promptly identify, segregate, and address non-conforming materials to minimize scrap.
Accurately track and log production output, scrap rates, and machine downtime.
Label, package, and palletize finished film rolls; safely operate electric walkie pallet jacks to transport materials throughout the plant.
Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including screen changes, blade replacements, and die cleaning.
Strictly follow all plant safety rules, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in compliance with SQF (Safe Quality Food) and company standards.
