About The Position

The Extrusion Maintenance Technician III is an Electro-Mechanical position responsible for supporting manufacturing operations, adjusting and repairing equipment as needed, and tracking the usage and ordering of replacement parts. This role involves diagnosing and repairing complex electro-mechanical problems, performing detailed equipment setups including recipe changes and control adjustments, and maintaining mechanical machine components in top operating condition. The technician will need an advanced understanding of electrical principles, electrical safety, motor control circuits, and programmable drives, as well as the ability to troubleshoot PLC inputs and outputs. Responsibilities also include completing projects for electrical circuits, controls, new equipment, and machine relocation, maintaining and repairing pneumatic systems, and performing mechanical preventative maintenance tasks. The technician will also monitor and report spare parts usage, adjust equipment based on Statistical Process Control data, and collaborate with QA. A key aspect of this role is training Level I and II technicians in more complex tasks and skills.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in related field, or equivalent related experience
  • 3-7 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of and experience with Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures
  • Able to strictly adhere to safety policies/procedures and be committed to customer quality.
  • Must be available for regular standby assignments; work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Must be willing to attend training sessions as needed, including out of state locations
  • Ability to assist in Training Level I and II Technicians
  • Intermediate knowledge of fabrication (ex. welding, basic machining)
  • Possess strong work ethic and knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting
  • Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics, and computer graphics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships employees, vendors, contractors, and suppliers
  • Ability to show attention to detail in a very fast paced

  • Advanced understanding of electrical safety and motor control circuits and programmable drives

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment
  • Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments
  • Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition
  • Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, field devices, sensors, photo eyes, etc.
  • Troubleshoot the inputs and outputs on PLC and repair issues
  • Complete projects to add electrical circuits and controls, new equipment and relocate machines
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic systems including repairs of cylinders and other components
  • Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
  • Enter all work completed in computer-based maintenance program
  • Monitor and report spare parts usage including completing parts order forms
  • Adjust equipment based on Statistical Process Control data and team with QA
  • Train Level I and II technicians in more complex tasks and skills
  • Performs other duties as assigned
