About The Position

The changeover leader is responsible for facilitating and assisting with all changeover operations. They will also need to coach operators on the changeover process, troubleshooting process, and identifying opportunities for improvement. They will also assist with any other hands-on training that is needed. A day in this role would include helping to prioritize changeovers with scheduling and working side-by-side with the technician on the highest priority changeover. The changeover will be completed from start to finish until good parts are approved for roll-stock or inline, by our QA Department.

Requirements

  • High degree of mechanical skill.
  • Ability to organize and accomplish work through other people.
  • Completion and passing of the Extrusion Operator Class.
  • Current Extrusion Operator Competency Stage 4.
  • 3+ years of extrusion and operation of extruders.
  • Current in all CBT training and Absorb training.
  • Knowledge/Involvement in Continuous Improvement Principles (5S, 8 Wastes, Kaizen, SMED, TWI), or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating and training all changeover activities.
  • Assist with changeovers (hands-on).
  • Receiving updated procedures and rosters from the training dept. and carrying out "pop-up" training tasks as needed on the floor.
  • Assist with extrusion operator class, as needed.
  • Creating or updating job instructions to ensure compliance through training process.
  • Help to create an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Output of a quality setup and process.
  • Ensuring that all team members work safely and always adhere to good safety behaviors.
  • Follows good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.
  • Training of new team members and on-going training to prepare them to advance to higher responsibility jobs when they become available, as well as coaching team members to achieve peak performance in their present position.
  • Assisting team members in complying with rules, production standards, and other company procedures (such as regular attendance).
  • Responsible for machine efficiency.
  • Make certain that extrusion records are accurately completed.
  • Ensure ready availability of all materials that are needed for an efficient changeover.
  • Make certain that the work area is kept neat and clean.
