About The Position

The Extraction Superintendent will coordinate and oversee day-to-day activities of the Valdosta soybean crush plant. This position is responsible for the safe, successful and progressive day-to-day operational activities and maintaining compliance with company policies, government regulation and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNR, FDA, USDA, FRA, HACCP, etc.) to deliver quality specs and standards, commercial demands. The Extraction Superintendent is also responsible for driving continuous process improvements, employee training and development. The Valdosta soybean crush plant processes soybeans into value added products and includes approximately 50 ADM and contractor colleagues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline is preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of production and supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong commitment to leading plant health and safety programs as well as quality and food safety programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a food processing facility, employing GMP and HACCP methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization – both oral and written.
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict, motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct way.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in mechanics, instrumentation, controls, calculations, and utility systems.
  • Ability to achieve and track excellence using performance-driven metrics.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with MS Office, Pi, and Maximo.
  • Ability to effectively manage time for optimal results.
  • Ability to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, excellent organizational and prioritization skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks, meet deadlines, and strive for continuous improvements in processes and expectations for performance of direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible to operate the plant safely, ensure environmental compliance, guarantee quality and standards of the products are met to fulfill customer’s expectations efficiently to maintain the business.
  • Respond to plant, process, personnel, product, and environmental emergencies.
  • Ensure successful day-to-day operation of the Processing facility, in areas of safety, environmental, quality, and production.
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager to carry out plant specific goals and objectives.
  • Plan strategically for both short- and long-term goals.
  • Coordinate and assist the Refinery and Delint Superintendent with their respective operations as needed.
  • Direct involvement with the management of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, food safety, sanitation, quality policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production problems, optimizing yields, productivity, and controlling costs.
  • Provide leadership for colleague development as well as establishing and achieving plant goals.
  • Plan and strategically execute short, medium and long term plans to maintain and improve operations.
  • Verify production numbers, records and inventories are accrued and accurately reflect consequence production yields.
  • Ensure planning of maintenance and capital activities and adjust operations to support these activities.
  • Commitment to developing structured and sustainable systems using Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to execute principles and procedures and actively promote, lead, support and participate in the Performance Excellence process.
  • Able to work effectively with the EHS Managers, Centers of Excellence, Commercial and other cross-functional teams as well as members of management internal and external to the facility.
  • Maintain a high degree of availability and responsibility for supporting a 24/7 operation.
