About The Position

This is an EXTRA HELP position to assist the Thurston County Sheriff's Office in conducting background investigations. The pay is $42.86 per hour. This position is limited to 693 hours of work within any fiscal year and is eligible for overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Requirements

Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Must be a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient with the ability to read, write, and speak the English language as required by RCW 41.14.100.
Minimum age of 21 years at time of appointment.
Must hold or obtain valid Washington State Driver's license.
Must meet Thurston County Civil Service Pre-Employment Screening Standards.
Must meet the Sheriff's Office Employment Standards and be willing to submit to and pass a thorough background investigation to include a polygraph examination.
Must meet the current physical standards adopted by the Sheriff's Office.
Applicants must meet at least ONE of the following requirements: Placement on current employment eligibility list for Deputy Sheriff with the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, or A certificate of basic law enforcement training from a recognized accredited state training center, or A certificate of Basic Law Enforcement Equivalency issued by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, or Federally certified law enforcement officers (e.g. FBI, DEA, Military Police) and certified federal background investigators, or A certificate of Reserve Academy completion issued by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, or Proof of a minimum of two hundred forty (240) hours of full-time or reserve law enforcement experience within the preceding eighteen (18) months, sufficient to pass evaluation standards set by the Sheriff's Office.
Attach any supporting documentation of law enforcement certification and/or experience as proof of qualifications.
