About The Position

This position assists nursing staff and healthcare providers in promoting wellness and treating illness. The role involves promoting an optimal level of function in accordance with accepted standards of nursing practice and the policies, procedures, and protocols of the Nursing Department and Student Health Service at Illinois State University.

Requirements

  • CMA: High school graduation or equivalent.
  • CMA: Possession of a current/valid medical assistant certification by an approved certifying board (accepted certifications include CMA, NCMA, CCMA, and RMA).
  • MA: High school graduation or equivalent.
  • MA: One (1) year of work experience and/or training which provided knowledge of clinical procedures and training in vital signs and patient prep for exams, sterilization and maintenance of instruments and equipment, and assisting with examinations and minor surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff and healthcare providers promote wellness in treating illness.
  • Promote an optimal level of function in accordance with accepted standards of nursing practice and the policies, procedures, and protocols of the Nursing Department and Student Health Service.
  • Perform vital signs and patient preparation for exams.
  • Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with examinations and minor surgical procedures.
