The Extinguisher and Hood Systems Inspector is capable of independently performing core technical responsibilities related to fire protection equipment. This role is responsible for completing standard inspections, maintenance, and service work without direct supervision while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and company standards. The technician is expected to demonstrate strong technical competency, reliability, and customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
  • Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving role).

Nice To Haves

  • Fire extinguisher (type 1, 2 and 3) and hood systems certifications preferred.
  • NICET Level I or above preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
  • Strong understanding of portable fire protection equipment and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment independently.
  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of kitchen hood systems and related equipment independently.
  • Complete standard service calls without direct supervision while ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and assist with testing as required.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures.
  • Accurately document services performed, including tagging and reporting.
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and supervisors.
  • Maintain and properly use tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job status and findings.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
