Externship for Children Ministry

About The Position

Rockland Chinese Alliance Church in Tappan, New York, is offering a part-time Children Ministry externship for 12 hours per week. Time may be spent teaching, preparing, attending trainings, training others, researching, and spending time with children and parents outside of weekly programming. The extern will assist and work closely with the Children Committee under the lead of the Children Director. The Children Committee is supervised by the Lead Pastor. The role includes establishing a children’s choir; participating in committee and children’s prayer meetings; teaching Sunday School and Friday Pioneer Club according to schedules set by the Committee; supporting curriculum selection; and leading, assisting with, teaching, or establishing special events. The extern will also assist with monthly Angel’s Heart special-needs ministry activities and build and maintain relationships with children, parents, and the church community. Compensation is $850 per month. A 1099 form will be provided when available for tax return purposes. Applications should be emailed to [email protected].

Requirements

Be a born-again Christian and baptized.
Have God’s calling or vision for children, including children with special needs.
Love leading children to worship and pray and helping them grow in a close relationship with Jesus.
Be a good team player who shares the church’s vision to build up godly younger generations.

Responsibilities

Establish a children’s choir.
Participate in the Children Committee meeting on the first Sunday of each month at 1:15 p.m. after lunch.
Participate in the Children Prayer meeting on the third Sunday of each month at 1:15 p.m. after lunch.
Teach Sunday School from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. according to schedules made by the Committee.
Teach Friday Pioneer Club from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. according to schedules made by the Committee.
Lead worship and prayers, teach Bible lessons, and lead games during Sunday School and Pioneer Club.
Assist the Committee in choosing curricula for Sunday School and Pioneer Club.
Lead, assist with, teach, and/or establish special events, including Good Friday/Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Camping Out, Church Retreat, VBS, Fall/Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other events.
Assist with monthly Angel’s Heart special-needs ministry activities.
Build and maintain relationships with children, parents, and the church.
