About The Position

The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) is seeking a motivated candidate to serve as the External Audit Liaison on a Personal Services Contract located in Sangamon County. The incumbent for this position will be under the direction of the Chief Internal Auditor and serve as the primary liaison between the agency and external auditors. The incumbent will also coordinate audit activities and provide guidance to agency staff throughout the audit process.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in business administration, accounting, auditing, public administration, or a related field, and five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more of the following areas: auditing; analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations; managing complex engagements or projects; or gathering, analyzing, and verifying data and evidence;
  • Or Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college with coursework in business administration, accounting, auditing, public administration, or a related field, and seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more of the following areas: auditing; analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations; managing complex engagements or projects; or gathering, analyzing, and verifying data and evidence;
  • Or Requires ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more of the following areas: auditing; analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations; managing complex engagements or projects; or gathering, analyzing, and verifying data and evidence.
  • Ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ Background Check.
  • Ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ drug screening.
  • Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two (2) years of work experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel or equivalent.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with audit liaison activities.
  • At least five (5) years of coordinating multiple projects.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional, efficient and ethical manner and to maintain the confidentiality of the information gathered during an audit.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Chief Internal Auditor serves as the primary liaison between the agency and external auditors (e.g. Office of Auditor General, Other Federal and State Oversight Entities).
  • Coordinates audit activities and provides guidance to agency staff throughout the audit process.
  • Participates in audit walkthroughs, interviews, and reviews to ensure accurate representation of agency operations.
  • Monitors audit progress and communicates status updates to leadership.
  • Reviews audit findings and supports development of management responses and corrective action plans.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
