About The Position

ALTEN Technology USA is an engineering company that partners with clients across industries including aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, electric vehicles, and rail. The company is part of the global ALTEN Group. This Design Release Engineer role supports Stellantis and owns exterior door latching components from initial concept through supplier coordination, validation, and manufacturing plant launch. The engineer leads the technical design, development, packaging, and release of exterior door latching systems, cinch mechanisms, or handles. The role works across vehicle engineering, procurement, quality, assembly plants, and tier-1 suppliers; develops and executes design failure analyses and verification plans; packages components in the vehicle environment using CAD tools; and supports production launches and root-cause investigations at manufacturing plants.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a highly relevant engineering discipline.
Typically 3 to 5+ years of automotive product engineering experience.
Familiarity with automotive production launch cycles, including APQP and PPAP.
Familiarity with GD&T, injection molding, or mechanism dynamics.

Nice To Haves

Experience with vehicle closures, latches, magnets, complex plastic assemblies, or soft-close mechanisms is heavily preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical design, development, packaging, and release of exterior door latching systems, cinch mechanisms, or handles.
Coordinate with Vehicle Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Assembly Plants, and external tier-1 suppliers.
Build and execute DFMEAs and DVP&Rs to resolve NVH, water-sealing, and functional robustness issues.
Review and package components within the vehicle environment using CAD tools such as NX or CATIA V5.
Drive root-cause analysis investigations using methods such as 5-Why and Red X.
Provide launch support directly at manufacturing assembly plants.
