About The Position

EXPLEO USA is looking for an Exterior Accessories Design & Release Engineer to join a dynamic and expanding team in Troy, Michigan. This role involves creating and managing source package documents, supporting purchasing in supplier selection, and designing and releasing new accessories for body and exterior commodities. The engineer will also support component supplier development, prototype efforts, and lead engineering development meetings. Key responsibilities include leading vehicle and system-level testing, approving PPAP documents, tracking projects for on-time launch, managing change management, leading root cause analysis for quality issues, and managing cost-saving initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven experience in designing exterior automotive accessories using metal materials, including metal structures, brackets, and exterior sheet-metal assemblies.
GD&T knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

Create and manage Source Package documents.
Support Mopar Purchasing to review suppliers’ technical submissions and select suppliers.
Design and release new Accessories for Body and Exterior commodities.
Support component supplier development activities as needed.
Support component and vehicle prototype efforts to demonstrate early proof of concept.
Host weekly engineering development meetings with the supplier and Mopar team members.
Lead vehicle and system-level testing for assigned projects.
Approve Engineering PPAP documents (Drawings, Dimensional, Validation).
Track and manage projects for on-time launch.
Lead change management of assigned components as needed.
Manage root cause analysis of assigned quality issues, tracked through GIMs.
Manage Cost Savings initiatives of assigned components (technical and commercial).
