About The Position

Oklahoma State University (OSU) Extension educators serve as the primary link between the university and the residents of Oklahoma, operating in all 77 counties. Established in 1914, OSU Extension is a federal, state, and county partnership dedicated to disseminating research-based information and promoting the adoption of new knowledge across Oklahoma. Extension educators deliver this information in areas such as agriculture, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development, and community and rural development. This specific role is within the 4-H Youth Development unit, focusing on statewide leadership for 4-H Healthy Living, curriculum and educational resource development, and youth leadership through programs like the State 4-H Ambassador program, as well as other statewide 4-H events and initiatives. The specialist is responsible for providing vision and coordination for innovative, research-informed programs aimed at helping Oklahoma youth acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence for healthy and productive lives. This involves collaboration with Extension professionals, university faculty, volunteers, youth, families, and external partners to identify needs, enhance educational offerings, and measure program impact. Employment continuation is contingent upon need, performance, and funding availability.

Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited university in youth development, education, health education, family and consumer sciences, human development, community development, leadership or a closely related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date).
Five (5) or more years of successful professional work experience.
Valid driver's license required.
Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties.
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with youth, Extension professionals, volunteers, faculty, community organizations and external partners.
Effective written, oral, interpersonal and digital communication skills.
Willingness to work within a flexible time frame which may include evenings and weekends.
Willingness to travel throughout the district, state, and occasionally out of state.
Willingness to transport youth, volunteers, and co-workers when needed.
