About The Position

This is a regular full-time position located at the OSU Extension office in Columbus, Ohio (covering Franklin County) with additional duties in other counties as needed. The role involves teaching nutrition and related topics to low-income youth and/or parents using standardized materials in various community settings. Responsibilities include recruiting program participants through networking and collaboration, assessing participants using surveys, and engaging in staff development to enhance knowledge and skills. This is a grant-funded position with renewal contingent on the sponsoring agency and OSU. The position requires the use of personal transportation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.
  • Must have own transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Using standardized teaching materials, teach nutrition and other nutrition-related topics to low-income youth and/or parents or caregivers of youth participating in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) in a variety of community settings.
  • Recruit program groups through networking and collaborating with other individuals, community agencies, schools, and organizations.
  • Use surveys to assess adults/youth before and after the series of lessons.
  • Participate in staff development and training opportunities to increase knowledge of nutrition topics and successful recruitment and teaching methods.
  • Perform related work as required.
