About The Position

The Extended School Year (ESY) Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides speech and language services to students with disabilities during the summer program to support the maintenance of critical communication skills and prevent regression. The SLP collaborates with educators, related service providers, and families to ensure students can effectively access and participate in their educational programming.

Requirements

  • Current Speech-Language Pathologist license in Massachusetts
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred (or eligibility for certification)
  • Experience working with school-aged children, particularly students with disabilities, preferred
  • Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct speech-language therapy services in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Support communication development in areas such as expressive/receptive language, articulation, social communication, fluency, and pragmatic language
  • Implement and monitor IEP goals, collecting and analyzing data to inform instruction and measure progress
  • Collaborate with ESY staff (special educators, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and paraprofessionals) to embed communication strategies throughout the school day
  • Utilize and support augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems as appropriate
  • Adapt materials and instructional approaches to meet diverse communication needs
  • Provide consultation and modeling for staff to support carryover of communication strategies
  • Maintain accurate service logs, progress notes, and documentation in compliance with district and state regulations
  • Communicate with families regarding student progress and provide strategies for home support when appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and district policies related to special education and student services
