About The Position

The Bush School is seeking an individual to join its Extended Day Program as an Extended Day Program Assistant. This role supports the school's mission of diversity and inclusion and requires an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. The program serves K-8th grade students and the assistant will support colleagues, faculty, staff, and outside vendors. The position is part of the after-school program and involves supervising activities, leading after-school activities, creating an inclusive environment, preparing snacks, and collaborating with the Extended Day Program team.

Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is required
Experience supervising school-age children required
Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings
Be legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience supervising school-age children preferred
Training in education, childhood development or related field is preferred
A philosophy that aligns with the school’s mission and values

An ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with others, including colleagues, faculty, staff, students and families in order to maintain positive and professional relationships
A commitment to being dependable to the team, arriving on time to the shift, and being flexible and engaged with the daily student programming
A commitment to completing work in a timely and thorough manner while being conscientious about assignments and expectations
A willingness to participate in professional growth/development opportunities
Proficient skills in the use of technology: including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, and Outlook

Responsibilities

Supervise activities for grades K-5, while sometimes supervising grades 6-8
Lead after school activities that include, but are not limited to the following: inside art and science activities, outside sports and free play activities, and gym sports and games
Create an inclusive environment for students by being open and welcoming, building strong relationships with students and families, and helping students resolve differences
Prepare for student snack service
Collaborate with the Extended Day Program team regarding student programming, daily preparations, and vendor oversight
