About The Position

Odyssey House has been providing innovative services and programs to individuals and families struggling with substance use and mental health disorders since 1967. They offer highly individualized treatment programs to help New Yorkers beat drugs and alcohol, focusing on psychological, physical, social, family, educational, and spiritual aspects of rehabilitation. Odyssey House is where recovery gets real.

Requirements

  • BA and/or Masters in fine arts related field.
  • Masters and/or State certification in substance abuse counseling.
  • Proficient with Adobe Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, AWARDS and Outlook.
  • Proficient on Mac and PC platforms.
  • Knowledge of studio photography, lighting and editing.
  • 2 years experience art studio management.
  • Experience in mental health and/or chemical dependency setting.
  • Experience in basic construction and installation practices.
  • Experience working in a gallery setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide education and awareness of mental health and recovery through art.
  • Organization and supervision of art department therapeutic arts services.
  • Maintain Odyssey House art collection and Haven Art Gallery, located in East Harlem.
  • Provide cultural education escorting clients on museum trips and events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other community arts organizations.
  • Create digital and print media promoting art program services.
  • Documents studio activities via photography and written documentation.
  • Provide creative resources for program celebrations and holiday activities.
  • Outreach and promotion of Odyssey House visiting artist program.
  • Monitor art department inventory, materials and tools.
  • Perform general maintenance and studio repairs.
  • Assists with organization and cleaning projects.
  • Maintain best studio practices and safety measures.
  • Attend all required clinical staff meetings and in-service trainings.
