About The Position

Berkley Financial Specialists, a member of W. R. Berkley Corporation, provides customized insurance solutions and service to financial institutions, including financial institution bond and management liability coverages. Berkley Crime provides crime-related insurance products to commercial organizations, financial institutions, and governmental entities. Products are underwritten on an admitted basis on behalf of W. R. Berkley Corporation member insurance companies, which carry A.M. Best and S&P A+ ratings and A.M. Best Financial Size Category XV.

Requirements

One or more years of insurance industry, underwriting support, business operations, or related experience and/or training.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with OneNote, Power BI, Power Automate, workflow documentation, user acceptance testing, and AI-enabled business tools preferred.
Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, documentation quality, and follow-through.
Ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, validate report outputs, and support data analytics, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled business initiatives.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with underwriters, brokers, BPO resources, internal partners, and leadership.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Strong time management, organizational, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
Willingness to learn new tools, support technology adoption, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Support Express Underwriting workflows, including pre-underwriting review, account preparation, risk information gathering, quote/binder support, policy issuance, and timely handling of eligible transactions within established authority and procedures.
Perform pre-qualification and file preparation for new business and renewal risks, ensuring required documentation, exposure information, and account details are complete, accurate, and ready for underwriting review.
Prepare, maintain, and update account documentation, including general information reports, rating/review documents, file notes, quote documents, binders, binding confirmations, subjectivity follow-up, declination correspondence, endorsement requests, renewal solicitations, cancellations, and non-renewals.
Serve as a subject matter expert and point of escalation for BPO resources, providing guidance on process expectations, quality standards, workflow questions, and issue resolution in coordination with underwriting and operations leadership.
Support onboarding, training, documentation, and quality review activities for underwriting support processes performed by onshore and offshore resources.
Monitor workflow queues, turnaround times, outstanding items, and process exceptions to help ensure service standards, compliance expectations, and business priorities are met.
Partner with underwriting, operations, finance/accounting, claims, IT, and other internal stakeholders to resolve account issues, improve handoffs, and support end-to-end account lifecycle execution.
Maintain accurate and complete data in underwriting, policy administration, and workflow systems to support reporting, audit readiness, portfolio visibility, and downstream business processes.
Assist with data analytics and reporting initiatives by validating source data, identifying data quality issues, interpreting workflow trends, preparing operational summaries, and contributing insights that support underwriting and business operations decision-making.
Participate in automation, AI, and process improvement initiatives by helping define business requirements, perform user testing, document procedures, evaluate outputs for accuracy, and support adoption of new tools or workflow enhancements.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, data capture, and consistency across underwriting support processes and recommend practical solutions.
Support program business, ODEN notices, declined/unsuccessful account management, mid-term transaction processing, broker correspondence, and other underwriting support activities as assigned.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal partners, brokers, BPO resources, and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrate proficiency in managing underwriting support tasks with minimal guidance and remain available to assist with additional workflows, special projects, and business initiatives as directed.
