About The Position

The Lube Technician is responsible for performing express lube duties on vehicles. This role involves performing lube, oil, and filter changes, lubricating various joints, and reporting necessary repairs to the service advisor. The technician will also install LOF reminder stickers, check and refill various fluid levels (battery, tire pressure, windshield, transmission, power steering, coolant), and ensure the vehicle is clean. Maintaining customer satisfaction (CSI) at or above company standards, keeping an organized and safe work area, participating in required training, accurately recording work hours, and adhering to all safety regulations and company policies are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems.
  • Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Technical training or commensurate technical experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Must be able to lift up to (50) pounds.
  • Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Work includes movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and the safe operation of power tools and test equipment.
  • May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service and repair conditions.
  • Frequently interacts with service advisors and the service manager.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to express lube guidelines.
  • Performs lube, oil and filter changes by draining and replacing oil and filter, and lubricating all joints, including idler arm steering knuckles, tie rods ends and ball joints.
  • Reports all necessary repairs to service advisor.
  • Installs completed LOF reminder sticker in vehicle.
  • Checks battery, tire air pressure, windshield fluid, transmission fluid and power steering fluid levels and refills as needed.
  • Checks coolant level and refills as necessary.
  • Ensures that vehicle is clean and free of fluid residue or fingerprints.
  • Checks fluid level prior to release of vehicle to ensure proper levels.
  • Maintains CSI at or above Company standards
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area
  • Participates in required training
  • Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system
  • Follows Safeguards rules and regulations.
