About The Position

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking an Explosives Technician to join our team! This person will work with a team of engineers and technicians assisting with the handling, testing, and development of energetic materials and devices for the Energetics and Warheads Directorate at Picatinny Arsenal. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Secret clearance through the DoD security background investigation process
  • Pass drug and alcohol testing
  • Must have good mechanical skills and at minimum 5 years of experience
  • High School diploma plus 5 years experience required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a government driver’s license.
  • Basic PC knowledge (MS Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Must be a team player, able to multitask and prioritize accordingly
  • Must have a valid NJ driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in handling explosives, ammunition, or other hazardous materials is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of DoD and Army safety regulations for explosives (e.g., DoD 4145.26-M) is a plus.
  • High standard of quality and efficiency with an unwavering focus on safety.
  • Must be physically able to handle materials up to 50 lbs and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • certification from a military or civilian EOD/UXO school is beneficial.
  • Past or present military personnel are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of weapons and firearms a plus.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Handle, store, and transport explosives, propellants, and pyrotechnics in accordance with all safety regulations.
  • Assist in the setup and execution of explosive tests and experiments.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and modify experimental explosive and ordnance systems.
  • Perform diagnostic testing and record data using various instrumentation.
  • Operate and maintain equipment used for mixing, handling, and testing energetic materials.
  • Conduct pre- and post-test inspections and document findings accurately.
  • Confer with engineers and other technicians to ensure procedures are followed and to resolve any technical problems.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in laboratories and at test sites.
