About The Position

This is a hands-on field role where you will work alongside experienced blasters to learn safe blasting practices in mining and quarry environments. You will assist with loading, tying, and firing blasts, follow strict safety procedures, identify hazards, and participate in daily safety activities. The goal is to build the skills needed for a professional blasting career. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong interest in developing their blasting expertise and obtaining state blasting licenses. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with local driving (2-3 hours) and early morning starts around 3:30 AM to support customer operations. Expect to work approximately 10-12 hours per day, with potential overtime and up to 10% overnight travel. This position will also assist experienced blasters under their supervision in conducting shot service activities safely, including stemming, timing, and proper product use. Occasional travel outside the regional market area may be required. You must be flexible to customer demands, including work schedules, and deal with weather changes. You will be aware of the work environment, i.e., the operation of large haulage vehicles and specialized equipment in and around blast patterns. You will actively participate in daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings to promote a safe and collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • At least one year of industry experience
  • A solid knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and basic math skills to manage daily inventory tasks
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, daily responsibilities, and urgent situations to maintain efficiency
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CDL License with tanker and hazmat endorsements
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and carry 50 pounds or more of product or materials
  • Requires the ability to load product, pull large hoses, fill drilled holes, and climb on and off trucks
  • Frequent shovelling of gravel to fill drilled holes throughout the day
  • Regular pushing and pulling while working with equipment
  • Frequent bending, squatting, and general mobility throughout the workday
  • Ability to manage moderate physical demands in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic computer skills preferred, including the ability/willingness to learn
