About The Position

A.S.P. Incorporated is seeking a K9 handler to join the Explosive Detection Dog and Handler Team (EDDHT) program under Transport Canada. This role involves the explosives detection searches of air cargo, including ULDs, palletized and non-palletized cargo, mailbags, and other required items. EDDHTs are responsible for maintaining a high level of training and readiness, and responding to threats and emergencies with integrity, respect, and responsibility. A.S.P. K9’s Explosive Dog Detection (EDD) Services is the largest private canine EDD service in Canada, providing effective solutions for the detection of explosives and explosive trace elements.

Requirements

Minimum High School diploma or Grade 12 education
Eligible to work in Canada
Proficient in English
Proficient computer skills such as Microsoft Office
Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail
Excellent written & verbal communication and active listening skills
Must possess a valid Security licence
Must possess a valid Driver's Licence (G or Higher) with a clear driving abstract
Must possess Basic First Aid and CPR certification
Must be willing to provide Criminal Record check upon request

Responsibilities

Complete and maintain a certification in the EDDHT program under Transport Canada
Complete and maintain a Transport Security Clearance (TSC) under Transport Canada
Responsible for the 24-hour housing, care, and well-being of their assigned canine
Carry out K9 duties, including working indoors and outdoors under all different conditions
Be flexible and willing to work in unpredictable, and often last-minute canine service requests
Daily training on explosives detection and maintenance records complying with Federal Regulations
