About The Position

Barrick’s Canadian Exploration team is looking for an Exploration Project Geologist to join their growing team. The Exploration group is home to leading technical experts in the geosciences and combines the resources of a global, multibillion-dollar company with local, discovery-driven teams operating across the globe. Barrick is committed to a safe work environment and leaving a sustainable legacy on its host communities. The expected salary is between $95,000 and $105,000 Canadian dollars per year. The successful candidate is required to have a passion for discovery, be self-motivated, and able to thrive in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in hard-rock geology and possess knowledge of ore forming processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology or related field required
  • Member of a professional geoscience or engineering association in Canada
  • 4 years + of experience in mining/mineral exploration
  • Possess a high-level of organization and attention to detail with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, environmental standards and communities,
  • Competence in mineralogy, structural geology, with field experience
  • Bilingualism English/French
  • Driver’s license
  • Available for field work (50% of the time)
  • Knowledge of Leapfrog, ArcGIS Pro, Iogas
  • Knowledge and experience in greenstone hosted gold deposits.

Responsibilities

  • Collection of geologic data, mapping, sampling, and core logging
  • Ensure application of best practices, data integrity and implementation of QAQC procedures in all program components.
  • Data synthesis, compilation, and geologic interpretation to support targeting, including hand drawn and digital cross-sections, long sections and surface maps and level plans.
  • Maintain project geospatial data (3D model and database)
  • Contribute in the identification of new exploration targets at project and district scale.
  • Exploration program design and safe execution
  • Deliver regular progress reports and presentations, including technical reports.
  • Maintain a proactive and respectful interaction with all employees and stakeholders, encouraging teamwork in a 360° collaborative environment.
  • Supervising and organizing multidisciplinary teams to timely and properly execute all exploration programs.
  • Comply with all Barrick policies and procedures, and all local laws and regulations.
