About The Position

Lilly is investing $4.5 billion to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. This facility will combine research and manufacturing to optimize processes, increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact. The Lead Maintenance Technician is a multi-craft role requiring expertise in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines. This position will oversee the maintenance and repair of manufacturing and facilities equipment across the site, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime for Utilities, Tank Farm, Warehouses, facilities, and admin areas. The role involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure efficient operation and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a multi-craft maintenance role within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Proficient use of CMMS (Maximo) and other Work Order systems.
  • Proficient use of electronic devices, smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or technical degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a multi-craft maintenance role within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily activities with a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Complete all work in a timely manner and in accordance with GMP procedures.
  • Complete all documentation associated with daily maintenance activities, including work order completion and post maintenance documentation.
  • Pass off vital information to all appropriate parties related to critical equipment issues through oral and written communication.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, including leading a team of mechanics and technicians in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to ensure continuous operation of production lines.
  • Lead in the execution of maintenance procedures to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve equipment-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Support planning and scheduling, including providing feedback to planners for continuous improvement.
  • Volunteer and support committees/teams outside of primary role (safety, continuous improvement, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot, dismantle, and reassemble process pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, and turbine pumps).
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and reassemble boilers, air compressors, softeners, and heat exchangers.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and reassemble HVAC equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs within facilities admin spaces.
