About The Position

Our UPMC Cancer Centers HR team has an exciting opportunity available as an Expert Human Resources Consultant! This full-time position offers a weekly, hybrid work schedule and requires light travel within the UPMC footprint. In this role, the Expert Human Resources Consultant will be the main employee relations representative for several groups within our UPMC Cancer Centers. Serving as a true subject matter expert, this role has a significant impact on operational outcomes. The Expert Human Resources Consultant demonstrates a proven ability to develop, recommend, and present employee-related strategies and solutions to senior leadership. Job responsibilities may also include leading employee investigations, partnering with leaders on HR strategies, supporting retention initiatives, and co-leading employee resource groups. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field is required and at least four years of employee relations experience required.
  • OR High School Diploma/GED and six years of employee relations experience required.
  • PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification required within the first 12 months of hire for external candidates. Internal applicants within UPMC HR are required to have the certification requirements in place to be considered for promotional opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and analyzes reports and metrics to provide sound recommendations.
  • Drive change management practices to enable organizational effectiveness and foster a diversity & inclusion strategy that will maximize our competitive advantage and skills of the workforce.
  • Act as the day to day HR content based expert. Independently able to advise all customers on employee relations matters such as reduction in force, disciplinary investigations, grievances, and performance improvement plans.
  • Effectively communicate expectations with the business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team collaborative atmosphere in which all functions of HR work together as one team.
  • Independently able to work with all shared services to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Collaborate with HR team to design and plan interventions that that facilitate organizational changes.
  • Participate on local and/or organization wide committees that focus on projects that move the organization towards meeting its strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with HR business and operational leaders to identify education gaps and development opportunities for management and employees. Partners with management to provide consultation on coaching and mentorship for staff.
  • Takes lead role in business unit and system-wide projects and initiatives, participate on committees.
  • Partner with leaders to provide and implement HR initiatives that support management and employees across the organization.
