Expert Data Scientist – Intelligence Support (TS/SCI)
About The Position
XTS is hiring an Expert Data Scientist to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) Maven program. The role supports imagery acquisition, imagery curation, and data transformation within the model development process, helping ensure that data remains connected, accessible, and reliable. The position develops, sustains, and monitors operational data pipelines; uses APIs to query systems and migrate information; and works across databases and cloud architectures. The data scientist troubleshoots pipeline failures and interface changes, traces their causes, and works toward lasting solutions. The role also communicates technical challenges, dependencies, and recommendations so the team can make informed decisions and move forward with a shared understanding.
Requirements
- Current active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
- One of the following education and experience combinations: associate degree plus 16 years of relevant experience; bachelor’s degree plus 15 years; master’s degree plus 13 years; or 18 or more years of relevant experience.
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases and cloud architectures, including how information is stored, accessed, and moved.
- Experience leveraging APIs to query systems and migrate data.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- Experience developing, sustaining, and monitoring operational data pipelines across multiple formats and interfaces.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with NGA enterprise solutions, including NGA CORE and NGA MLOps, Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes, and Government NPE certificates.
- Experience implementing processes, standards, and tools based on the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe).
- Experience developing dynamic visualizations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, sustain, and monitor operational data pipelines across multiple formats and interfaces.
- Use APIs to query systems and migrate data, accounting for differences between systems.
- Build integrations, automate processing, and maintain code that supports data movement.
- Troubleshoot pipeline failures and interface changes, trace problems, and work toward lasting solutions.
- Explain technical challenges and dependencies, and communicate recommendations to the team.
- Support imagery acquisition, imagery curation, and data transformation for NGA Maven’s model development process.
