About The Position

Quantum-Art, a full stack quantum computing company, develops state of the art quantum computing systems based on trapped ions technology (both hardware and software). As part of our mission our System group builds, characterizes and operates our quantum processing units (QPUs), develops novel quantum gates and circuits, and implements new algorithms capable of solving hard computational tasks, beyond current classical computational abilities.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in experimental physics \ engineering, with experience in one or more of the following fields: quantum information, atomic, molecular and optical physics, precision spectroscopy, electro-optics, ultra-high vacuum systems, electronics, cryogenics
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and apply new physical principles and experimental techniques, exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate system performance and identify areas for optimization
  • Proven work experience and relevant training in running complex experimental systems, including data collection, and advanced signal processing and data analysis in Python \ Matlab
  • Team player, excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills, in both Hebrew and English
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years direct experience with AMO-physics experimental systems (trapped ions, ultracold atoms, NV-centers or laser spectroscopy)
  • Experience in the industry, specifically working on complex physical systems
  • Complex tasks and projects leadership abilities
  • Software development \ physical simulation background, working experience with Zeemax, Solidworks, Comsol etc. Experience in best practices for software control and data acquisition of complex experiments

Responsibilities

  • Design, construct, operate, test, and validate quantum computing systems based on ultracold trapped-ion technology.
  • Work in an experimental lab, collect data, analyse it and derive conclusions on the characteristics, stability and robustness of the system, constantly improving its performance.
  • Collaborate with other hardware, theory, and software groups – scientists and engineers -- jointly leading the effort toward high performance & scalable quantum computers.
  • Develop new schemes, architectures, high fidelity gates, circuits, and use-cases for ion trap-based quantum computation.
  • Maximize QPU performances, define and measure the overall noise budget.
  • Obtain efficient ways to reduce, control and mitigate leading noise sources.
  • Validate and characterize the performance of QPU’s in execution of quantum algorithms and circuits.
