Experienced Registered Nurse - Part-time Virtual Nurse- Centralized Nursing Services
About The Position
Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is implementing an onsite Virtual Nursing Program utilizing virtual care equipment and technology. Virtual Nurses will work from a centralized onsite “bunker” location within the hospital and provide remote nursing support to bedside teams through secure audio/video communication. The Virtual Nursing Program is designed to reduce administrative burden on bedside nurses, increase direct bedside care time, improve nurse retention and engagement, enhance patient experience and education, support safe, high-quality patient care, and improve patient throughput and reduce length of stay.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in South Carolina
- Proficient computer and EMR skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
- Previous experience in telehealth or virtual nursing
Responsibilities
- Complete admission history and documentation
- Perform medication reconciliation
- Assist with discharge education and discharge documentation
- Support patient and family education
- Assist bedside nurses with care coordination and administrative tasks
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, pharmacy, and bedside nursing teams
- Escalate patient concerns or changes in condition to bedside staff immediately
- Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance during all virtual interactions
- Document accurately and timely within the electronic medical record
- Utilize virtual nursing equipment and software
- Operate multiple monitors, cameras, headsets, and communication platforms
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and communicate concerns appropriately
- Demonstrates professionalism and teamwork
- Supports organizational mission, vision, and values
- Participates in training and competency validation for virtual nursing workflows and technology
- Maintains flexibility as the virtual nursing program expands across campuses and service lines
