Experienced Radar Seeker System Engineer

Boeing•Huntsville, AL
•$112,200 - $151,800•Onsite

About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Radar Seeker System Engineer to support new development efforts for the Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) RF seeker within Boeing Integrated Air and Missile Defense. The position is located at the Boeing Jetplex facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Boeing is the original engineering manufacturer of the PAC-3 radar seeker, which provides target data to the missile to support acquisition, interception, and destruction of threats using hit-to-kill technology. The seeker team is a cross-functional group focused on safety, execution, LEAN practices, and developing the seeker for the PAC-3 program and future weapon systems. The engineer will develop and analyze radar signal-processing algorithms, define system performance requirements and interfaces, assess system and seeker simulation performance, and support implementation of algorithm designs in Ada or C++ software. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance is required after starting. U.S. export-control compliance requirements also apply, and the role requires a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62. Boeing will not sponsor employment visas. This is a first-shift position. The listed summary pay range is $112,200–$151,800. Relocation is available based on candidate eligibility. The position is not contingent upon a program award and is not safety sensitive. Successful candidates must satisfy Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or directly related non-U.S. equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance is required post-start. U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. Government for the clearance.
  • Meet U.S. export-control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person under 22 C.F.R. §120.62.
  • Satisfy Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience in digital signal processing, radar, or digital communications algorithms and techniques, such as equalization, waveform processing, detection/acquisition/discrimination, channel estimation, filter design, or resampling theory.
  • Experience using MATLAB for data analysis, prototyping, and/or modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with digital signal-processing theory and application of fundamental digital signal-processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of linear signal theory, Fourier transforms, and communication theory.
  • Experience with RF, electrical transmission, signal processing, and modeling in MATLAB.
  • System test experience, including test design, implementation, and execution for breadboard and brassboard hardware.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, independent research and development (IRAD) environment.
  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages and development environments, such as C++, Ada, and Python, in an Agile environment.
  • Experience in formal technical writing, such as whitepapers, technical notes, technical journals, and research reports.
  • Experience in technology readiness level (TRL) maturation of novel technologies and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms for radar signal-processing techniques, including Kalman filtering, probabilistic and statistical modeling, and measurement processing from pulsed-Doppler waveforms.
  • Design algorithms that process signal returns into discriminated targets and track targets through the mission timeline.
  • Define system performance requirements and ensure interface definitions support functional components of the seeker and missile architecture.
  • Analyze and optimize total system-of-systems performance and system architecture as applied to algorithmic target acquisition and tracking functionality.
  • Analyze seeker simulation data to identify improvement areas and recommend ways to improve system robustness in challenging operational environments.
  • Review and modify the application of digital signal-processing techniques to reradiated signal content to ensure accurate identification of signal characteristics.
  • Support tactical implementation of algorithm designs into Ada or C++ software.

Benefits

  • Eligible employees may enroll in health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and programs providing paid and unpaid time away from work.
  • Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities.
  • Relocation based on candidate eligibility.
