About The Position

A Driver – CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck and provides prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services to customers. The driver ensures the vehicle meets Company safety standards before operation, complies with Company, state, and federal regulations, and completes daily vehicle condition reports so defects can be repaired promptly.

The role includes inspecting and maintaining the vehicle, driving a designated route to service customers and deliver collected material to a disposal site, operating truck and compactor controls, communicating professionally with customers and colleagues, and completing required reports. Drivers follow safety and productivity procedures and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
• Good customer service skills and a professional, courteous, cooperative, honest, and trustworthy manner.
• Good time-management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
• Ability to follow a work schedule and follow through on challenges.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules and promote safety standards without taking inappropriate risks.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls; report safety issues.
• Safely operate the truck along the designated route and to the disposal site, following route sheets and maps and servicing assigned customers.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced promptly and professionally.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable material.
• Clean areas affected by accidental waste spills in accordance with applicable safety standards and policies.
• Monitor vehicle condition and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip where appropriate.
• Complete required route and productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other reports.
• Meet required departmental productivity standards.
• Follow required safety policies and procedures and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
