About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Tampa, Florida (FL) office is seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer or Analyst with 3+ years of experience to join their MEP team. This role involves supporting the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team, specifically working on large-scale projects. The position requires participation in project teams in an active production role, attending project meetings internally and externally with clients, and preparing project specifications and electrical construction cost estimates. Daily interaction and collaboration with cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines, coordination and verification of as-built drawings, and performing quality work that promotes client retention are key aspects of this role. The engineer will also coordinate with specialists for fire alarm, technology, and lighting design as required by project scope, and collaborate with architects, mechanical/plumbing engineers, and other disciplines for equipment power needs and electrical distribution sizing. Performing electrical design calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules, and being responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, and power analyses, are also core responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of design experience in electrical engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months required
  • Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
  • Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
  • Power Analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP
  • Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Nice To Haves

  • advanced degrees are a plus
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus

Responsibilities
