About The Position

Imagine Children’s Museum is looking for friendly, energetic people to join our team as Experience Hosts! This role involves welcoming visitors, helping children explore exhibits, and creating a fun, welcoming environment. The ideal candidate brings positive energy, kindness, and a willingness to learn, with no extensive prior experience required.

Requirements

  • Comfortable standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Willing to complete basic First Aid training.
  • Available to work weekends and some evenings.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to present information clearly and confidently to visitors.
  • Excellent critical thinking and judgment skills.
  • Ability to connect with people of varying abilities and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to be flexible and focus on solution-building.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Complete basic First Aid training.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • High level of public contact.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Occasionally lift and or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Speak and hear sufficiently to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and in small groups.
  • Mental stamina for problem solving and dealing with stressful situations; prioritizing multiple tasks; interpreting and applying oral/written instructions.
  • Ability to bend, carry, reach to the side, front and overhead, push, pull, walk, stand, twist and squat, grab, squeeze are repetitive motions required of the position.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor elements including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and wind.
  • Regularly exposed to moderate noise in and around exhibits.
  • Occasionally exposed to small and/or enclosed spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of customer service or experience working with children is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors and help them feel comfortable and excited to explore.
  • Talk with children and adults in exhibit spaces.
  • Encourage play and learning through simple prompts and ideas in exhibit spaces.
  • Answer basic questions about the Museum.
  • Help keep exhibits clean, organized, and ready for play.
  • Support special events like evening events and programs.
  • Work as part of a team to make sure every guest has a great experience.
  • Respond in a positive, calm and friendly manner if a guest needs help.
