About The Position

The New Children’s Museum (NCM) is seeking an Experience Associate to provide welcoming, inclusive, and consistent customer service to all visitors. This role involves greeting guests, fostering a creative and playful community, and supporting the museum's mission of sparking creativity, exploration, and a sense of belonging through interactive art experiences. The museum collaborates with contemporary artists to design installations and educational programs for children, aiming to be an innovative, loved, inspiring, and sustainable institution. As a nonprofit, NCM relies on community support and aims to be a welcoming space for all families, emphasizing diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children strongly preferred.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service skills under pressure.
  • Desire to learn about/communicate the Museum's mission, installations, studios, and programs with guests.
  • Positive attitude and excellent team player.
  • Reliable, dependable, adaptable, and flexible.
  • Willingness to be certified in First Aid and CPR.
  • Fluency in English is required.

  • Being bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Positively represents the New Children's Museum by providing welcoming, inclusive, and consistent customer service to all visitors.
  • Greets new and returning guests and contributes to the creation of a warm, welcoming, creative, and playful community.
  • Fosters a community valuing social justice and amplifying youth voice.
  • Facilitates opening and closing of Museum installations (indoors/outdoors) in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Preps materials and restocks drop-in activity spaces.
  • Engages with guests across museum spaces.
  • Monitor for first aid needs and report incidents to the Manager on Duty and/or Security Manager.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and welcoming museum spaces via a daily, monthly, and annual cleaning practice.
  • May be stationed inside or outside to monitor directional flow and museum capacity.
  • Provides information on NCM programs and services, including but not limited to school visits, camps, events, and membership to visitors.
  • Participates in morning and afternoon team huddles.
  • Staff evaluation stations as needed and support evaluation collection with visitors and program participants as required.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.
