About The Position

The Expeditor is responsible for managing special order products from the point of quotation through to customer delivery. This role serves as the primary point of contact for both internal and external customers, building trust and loyalty. The Expeditor ensures smooth product supply by maintaining communication with customers regarding order status, resolving complaints, sourcing non-stock items, and processing returns. They also provide pricing information to sales staff, assist with account inquiries, and ensure adherence to special order policies. Collaboration with other departments like design and shipping is crucial for seamless service delivery. The role also involves maintaining sales reports and may include purchasing and inventory control for specific stock items.

Requirements

  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with individuals within and outside the organization.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Strong knowledge of lumber, building materials, and hardware products.
  • Ability to assess customer requirements and make product recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of customer service fundamentals is essential.
  • Professional, courteous, and punctual with a focus on customer service.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external customers, developing professional relationships to foster trust and loyalty.
  • Expedite all special order products throughout the system from quotation to customer delivery.
  • Maintain contact with customers regarding order status and advise on completion.
  • Resolve customer complaints and objections by investigating, interpreting policy, and taking appropriate action to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Source non-stock custom products from various vendor product lines for customers.
  • Supply Inside, Outside, and Counter Sales staff with accurate pricing on special order products.
  • Establish cash or financing options and provide assistance with customer account inquiries.
  • Process all special order returns with both customers and vendors.
  • Ensure product is clearly tagged with customer contact information.
  • Ensure adherence to special order policies and procedures regarding payments, invoicing, and billing.
  • Maintain connection with designers, shipping, and other departments to ensure smooth product and service supply.
  • Maintain weekly sales reports on all sales activities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required, including purchasing and controlling inventory of certain stock items.
