About The Position

Compiles and maintains material status information to expedite movement of material and order priorities assigned by management.

Requirements

• 6 months business related experience (purchasing activities for shipbuilding industry products) and a 2yr degree; or 2 yrs. business experience related to purchasing for shipbuilding industry products.
• Completion of a standard high school education or equivalent.
• Computer literate.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Nice To Haves

• Good knowledge of MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Interface with Purchasing Department personnel, be a team player, communicate with buyers, accounting personnel, production control personnel, and management as required.
• Communicate with vendors on performance related issues.
• Read and understand purchase order requirements.
• Compile tracking data and reports on a daily basis using a computer.
• Organize and file documents as directed, in accordance with department requirements.
• Solve problems concerning due dates, shipping dates, pricing discrepancies, etc.
• Quickly become familiar with materials, yard functions, and company procedures.
• Accept duties and responsibilities as may be directed by Purchasing Management.
